Safe Paw Ice Melter

Don't ruin your holidays with a fall and injury on slippery steps and walkways, especially with so many guests and relatives visiting. Many of us use ice melters to clear the path of ice, but most ice melters contain salt which can poison and burn our pets and children.
This non-toxic Safe Paw Ice Melter
will not irritate tender paws or skin. It melts ice in temperatures as low as 2 F with a timed-release formula that helps prevent re-icing for up to three days.

Winter Tires -- Are They Necessary?

If you see a lot of winter weather where you live and drive, you may wonder if it's necessary to put winter tires
on your car, or maybe just get by with a good set of all-season tires. The folks over at Consumer Reports are wondering the same thing, and the answer is...it depends.
Even if your vehicle has all-wheel drive, winter tires deliver better stopping grip on snow and ice than most all-season tires. They are the right choice if you commonly drive in wintry weather, or if you just want a greater piece of mind.
On the other hand, if you live in an area with infrequent winter weather or can wait for the roads to be cleared after a storm before heading out, all-season tires are a better choice.

Rain Barrel Urn -- Capture and Store Rainwater

It seems every year we have a period of drought that burns the grass and threatens our plants and trees. If we capture and store the fresh water when it rains, then we can recycle it during these dry spells for watering. Plants always seem to thrive better drinking natural rainwater rather than chemical-ridden tap. Plus using rainwater reduces your water bill.
This Rain Barrel Urn
resembles the terra cotta pottery we love. A self-draining planter on top adds a charming touch.

To increase the total conservation during rainy spells, it can be attached to other rain barrels using linking nodes. Check out the variety of Rain Barrel styles

Storm Safe Floating Hurricane Shelter

We've been researching options for a storm shelter given the current hurricane season, and think we've found something interesting with Storm Safe. The severe storm Hurricane Shelter is designed in a hexagon shape, and fabricated from heavy aluminum. The shelter is designed to be assembled quickly, and stores away concealed from others who might want to barge into your storm shelter. We're not sure with high winds we would want to be in the Storm Safe without it being secured, but because it's water tight, we might be a bit more inclined to not worry about being washed out to sea. Whatever you decide, the best option is always to evacuate if you're told to, and we think a storm shelter is a good last option to have in your arsenal of emergency tricks.
It has the following key features:
- 4 Person Capacity
- 8x7 foot
- Stores in a Small Space
- Assembles with hand tools
- Can be disassembled from the inside
- 4 air-vents, plug-gable
- Can be secured to the ground
- Watertight and floats
- Inside lighting with light sticks
