Ambient Devices 7 Day Forecaster

We recently saw this updated and rather large forecaster at Sharper Image. We have the 5 day version, and can see why covering all the days of the week in the 7 day version might be a good idea. The 7-Day Forecaster boasts a six- by six-inch screen, and will show "current conditions and an extended multi-day forecast for 150 locations in the United States." Also the 7 day has information about the UV Index, wind speed and direction, pollen alerts and air quality alerts. We like the updates - especially the wind speed - as it really can help to determine the true temperature. Also - having weather alert warnings should be a standard on any forecasting weather device.

Weather In A Bottle - Stormglass Weather Predicting Instruments
The Stormglass is a bottle full of liquid designed to forecast the weather. The changes in the atmosphere ahead of on-coming weather fronts cause different crystals to grow in the liquid. Each type of crystal predicts a different type of weather – on average, two days in advance. Discovered hundreds of years ago by the early alchemists, the Stormglass was soon adopted by seafarers in particular because of its uncanny ability to predict storms.
You may choose to monitor your Weather In A Bottle Stormglass and let it bring you a new awareness of our everchanging environment, or you may choose just to admire it for the sheer beauty of its constantly evolving crystal formations. We think the former is the way to go - better be on top of the weather than underneath it.

Weather Beamed to Your Clock Radio
The
Meteo Personal Weather Clock is not your average weather station clock, this. It can deliver the weather from 176 European cities to your bedside via a radio signal. At no additional costs or fees, the data is simply transmitted to your alarm clock via the radio clock signal from the physical-technical federal agency in Mainflingen, Germany, and via the HBG transmitter located at the Federal Meteorological Office in Switzerland.

Dress or Undress for the Weather - Stripping Weathergirl Weather Station

This might be the most amazing weather station for your home or boat I've ever encountered. Okay - seriously this is a nice graphical way to see what the weather is like out side, and figure out what type of attire you should have on or the women in your proximity. ”Weather Girl” dresses (and undresses!) to show you what to expect from playing on the beach to building snowmen! 15 different forecast icons, and indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity with min/max recording. The time is set automatically by radio signal. The Weathergirl weather station costs (~$70) from Nauticalia.

Forecasting Umbrella with LED now Available
This umbrella has been injected with some wonderful technology in the handle. A built-in wireless receiver gets a daily weather forecast from Accuweather.com, and blue LEDs will flash to let you know if the forecast is rain or snow. The LEDs located at the bottom of the handle will flash in proportion to the chance of precipitation for your area; if there is a 100% chance, it will flash quickly, and if a 10% chance, it will flash slowly. The umbrella itself is also incredibly well made. When opened, the umbrellas 58" dual-canopy "gust buster" design resists strong wind gusts and keeps you fully sheltered from precipitation.
- Easy push-button opening action and full length storage sleeve with wrist strap.
- Blue LEDs in the handle indicate when rain or snow is expected
- Receives weather data for 150 U.S. locations from Accuweather.com
- Top quality "gust buster" canopy design
- Network signal and low battery indicator lights
- Takes a single "C" size battery (not included)
- Dimensions: 41 1/2" L x 58" Diameter (it is a large umbrella)/p>
For $99 I hope I never ever get wet.

In-Store Sightings: Weather In Motion clock with Proximity Sensor

We've finally spotted the Weather In Motion clock with Proximity Sensor at Sharper Image. It did work when we approached - the proximity sensor detected our presence. As we approached the unit, the Weather In Motion switched to showing the indoor and outdoor temperature readings, while the time and weather forecast icons automatically reduced in size. We think the size of the unit and the overall readability is quite good.
- Infrared motion sensor for display change (sensor detection range: 0.5 to 2 feet)
- Near mode—Displays time, indoor and outdoor temperature and weather forecast
- Far mode—Displays time, day of the week and weather forecast
- Displays indoor and outdoor temperature (up to 3 channels)
- Displays weather forecasts with graphical icons: Sunny, Partly Cloudy, Cloudy and Rainy

Waterdrop Weather Station - Get Your Weather Egg On
Looking more like a weather egg than a weather water-drop, this weather station from Sharper Image features an illuminated LCD screen, forecast icons with color code; temperature (F°/C° indoor/outdoor); humidity (25% - 95%); maximum temperature and humidity; barometric pressure (24-hour); moon phase; and U.S. Atomic time and date; alarm clock setting. We like the easy to read display, and when we visited in-store we thought it was large at first, but the size really helps the readability from a good 10-15 feet.
- Includes outdoor sensor with 433MHz transmitter (runs on 2 AA batteries, order batteries separately).
- Hands-free infrared sensor — wave your hand within three inches to turn off the alarm clock and activate a five-minute snooze. Also illuminates the screen for five seconds.
- Plugs in with AC adapter (included).
- Can also be powered by 4 AA batteries (order separately).
The in-store model looks good. It's a bit
more red and more glossy.
