First Impressions: Oregon Scientific WMR200 Professional Weather Station

So far we've really been impressed with the Oregon Scientific WMR200 Professional Weather Station. The interface for the touch screen weather data is really quite well done - easy to read - and easy to navigate. The set up of the weather station was also pretty straightforward - it took about 45 minute to deploy all the sensors and set them up in our back yard. We'll have more details as we test, but so far so good.

The time is set automatically by radio signal. The Weathergirl weather station costs (~$70) from Nauticalia.

In-Store Sightings: Oregon Scientific Crystal Weather Station

Img 0296

We visited Sharper Image over the weekend, and spotted the Oregon Scientific Crystal Weather Station. The crystal weather station is really impressive in person. The crystals of sun, rain, and clouds look pretty amazing, and the display is also very clear and easy to read. The heft of the crystal weather station is also impressive, and we think this is one of the best looking home weather stations we've seen.

TV Weather Station - Create Your Own Weather Channel at Home

Tv Weather Station

Remember those late nights in your youth where you would turn to your local station and see images of a barometer, temperature gauge, etc. spinning endlessly, telling you the local weather? Now you can have your own dedicated weather at home 24 hours a day. This home weather station connects to your TV and provides an in-depth readout of the current conditions around your home. An included temperature, rain and wind sensor can be placed around your yard, and wirelessly broadcasts the data collected back to the base station in your house.

Your personal home weather channel will have details on:

  • current temperature inside and outside
  • wind chill factor
  • wind direction
  • wind speed
  • barometric trend
  • rainfall
  • humidity

The receiver will also calculate a forecast based on weather trends over the past 72 hours, and it's only going to cost you $129.99.

Serial Output for Your Weather Station

Avr-Weather

Want to add a new interface to your weather station? This cool article in italian will show you how.

[Fickara] sent in his AVR interface(in Italian) for an Oregon Scientific remote weather station. Thanks to the AVR, data is output via RS232. There are quite a few less expensive weather stations - usually PC output models are over $100, so this could be pretty handy. His page has several other projects including an oscope clock, POV on a stick, etc.
