Review: Honeywell WeatherTime In-Out-Thermometer and Alarm Clock

IMG_6087.jpg
You get a wireless sensor and the main unit.

We've been using the TE103NL Honeywell WeatherTime In-Out-Thermometer and Alarm Clock over the past week here at Weather Snob and really like this compact unit. It's easy to carry around the house where you want to see the temperature, and has a bunch of simple easy to use features.

The TE103NL features:

  • Quartz clock with digital readout
  • Dual weekday/weekend and pre alarm with snooze
  • Calendar clock with day of the week and seconds
  • 12 or 24 hour time format
  • Indoor and outdoor temperature
  • Programmable temperature alarm
  • Programmable ice alarm warning
  • Outdoor temperature range:
  • Min/Max memory for temperature
  • Remote sensor (TS03) included- Reception range of up to 100 feet (30 meters)
  • Enhanced digital display with push buttons
  • Table top or wall mount option

Set up was easy. We simply installed the battery in the sensor unit, and then the batteries in the main unit. Setting up the clock was also simple - just hold the mode button and you walk through all the options.

IMG_6089.jpg
Put the sensor unit somewhere in the shade. Direct
sun will give you false readings.

IMG_6090.jpg
Clock, date, and temperature. Perfect for any Weather Snob.

Overall - the unit has a very large display for its size, and we found ourselves able to read it across the room. The overall temperature readings and performance when put up against our Lacrosse Thermometer - both dead on.

This is a great product, and a perfect gift for Father's Day.

Having a wireless thermometer with a set of wireless transmitters is the way to go, and you might even want a third wireless thermometer sensor for the greenhouse. The kit includes one remote sensor, which can be stationed up to 120 feet away and sends signals every 30 seconds. The main unit's LCD screen lets you assign a channel to each remote, and then scroll through the menu as necessary. La Crosse Technology Window Thermometer - 2 Pack

La_Crosse_Technology_See-Thru_Outdoor_Window_Thermometer_-_2_Packd1nStandard.jpg

From Woot:

Los Angeles: 2119. All the smart ones have left. They're on Mars or one of the colonies. The only people here are regular guys like me. And the La Crosse Technology See-Thru Outdoor Window Thermometers.

The thing about the La Crosse Technology See-Thru Outdoor Window Thermometer is that they made them too well. They read from -22°F to 122°F with a temperature accuracy of +/ 1.5°F. There's a weather resistant case too. Some people say that makes them better than regular guys. Maybe I even agree with that. But I'm the one with the gun.

Solar Powered Thermometer - Lights Up in the Dark

Why would you want a solar-powered outdoor thermometer? So you can read the temperature in the dark. The solar thermometer stores enough solar power during the day to remain lit up for around 4-8 hours at dark. It has a temperature range of -20 F to +120 F and comes with an on-off switch that helps conserve the stored energy for delayed usage.

Floating Oil Filled Glass Orbs Tell Indoor Temperature

41Dy3Y74Zel. Aa280

I've always wanted one of these glass thermometers. Recently, I saw one in the home of a neighbor, and was immediately struck by how cool they are. Galileo Thermometers are magnificent creations that make Galileo's 400 year old principle of relative density a functional reality. An accurate indoor thermometer encased in brilliant glass, the Galileo is the point at which art meets science. Each of the liquid-filled floats weighs exactly.006 grams more than the one above it in the cylinder to ensure a stately and orderly procession of ups and downs as the temperature changes.

Timex TX5100 Electronic LCD Indoor Thermometer/Hygrometer with Clock

They say it's not the heat, but the humidity. Well fret not, because the versatile Timex TX5100 electronic thermometer/hygrometer displays both at the same time. The compact unit--which sits unobtrusively on a desktop, table, or shelf--sports a three-line, see-through LCD panel that simultaneously shows the time, indoor temperature, and indoor humidity in digits over 0.34 inches tall. As a result, the device is ideal for greenhouses, saunas, humidors, homes with expensive art collections, and a host of other indoor locations. The TX5100 also offers a number of comfort-related icons, including a happy face (for comfort) that appears when the temperature is between 68 and 78.8 degrees F and the humidity is between 40 and 70 percent. The wet icon, meanwhile, appears when the humidity is between 70 and 90 percent (as does the "not happy" face), while the dry icon shows up between 30 and 40 percent. Should the humidity dip or rise above the 20 to 90 percent measuring range, the TX5100 displays a Hi° or Lo° icon.

Lacrosse Technology Wireless Temperature Station

The WS-7034U from Lacrosse is a wireless temperature station. You'll get a wireless sensor to place outside, and there's a temperature sensor on the station for indoor weather readings. We like the tall thin design of the Lacrosse Technology Wireless Temperature Station and think for $27 bucks this is a good option. There's also a digital clock to keep you on time as well.
