Timed Sprinkler Sensor Turns Off Water Based on Weather Alerts

wireless-sprinkler-system.jpg

It's time to stop wasting our precious resources, and here's a gadget that will do just that. Orbit Irrigation’s solar-powered wireless rain/freeze sensor acts together with the Orbit Professional Irrigation System to detect when there’s rain or when it’s freezing. It communicates wirelessly to the Sprinkler system to let it know when to shut off, and when it can resume sprinkler operations. The sensor also has a solar panel to keep it powered without you needing to replace the battery or hook it into wall power.

Microsoft Drops SPOT Weather Watch Project

Microsoft_Spot_watch.jpg

Microsoft is quietly pulling the plug on their SPOT weather watch and MSDN project. What are you losing? The SPOT Watch aimed at providing real-time weather and schedule updates to the wrists of the weather obsessed everywhere. The technology will no longer be built into any new watches, and the most recent examples have sold out across the web.

Bummer. We really liked this service and we think it was perfect for watches. Hopefully someone else will build this into a watch or provide a similar service in the future.

thumbnail.aspx.jpeg

Microsoft is having a Next-Gen PC design contest, and one of the entries - Yuno - caught our eye. The Yuno is the perfect personal computer for any professional business person or anyone who is always on the go. Not only is it a mug for your morning beverage, it is also a touchscreen display for only the information you want to see, so you are not bound to a desktop during your morning routine. We could see charting the weather with a nice Vista weather gadget on our cup of coffee - can't you?
