Stormtracker Weather Alert Device

Stormtracker-Weather-Alert-Tv-Radio-Lantern-Cell-Phone-Charger

The Stormtracker Weather Alert device is good weather gadget to have if you want everything in one little weather alert package. It's truly got it all - from TV, Radio, LED Lantern, LED Flashlight, and even a cell phone charger.

It sits quietly but continuously tuned to the national storm alert/hazard warning system, then immediately sounds an alarm if severe weather approaches your area, especially important at night when the family is asleep. It travels with you to safety where you can tune in the radio or 5″ black-and-white TV for more information. Powered by a regular plug-in power adapter, 12- volt car power adaptor or its rechargeable battery pack, you also handcrank to power up the radio, a 6-LED area light, 3-LED flashlight or cell phone charging station with included universal adaptor set. The storm alert warning system also includes scrolling text.

Weathering the Storm - Shelters and Weather radios

Severe weather can strike at any time, and having a weather radio to stay informed of big changes can save lives. This article sets the facts straight on cost and getting a weather radio that can program itself to your local NOAA info:

Severe Weather can strike in a moments notice, and we're entering the most unstable and dangerous season of the year. That's why we're bringing you a week of reports to help you get ready. "We understand this house and the next three were destroyed by a tornado that came through," said Greg Greenwalt.

Greenwalt is talking about the tornado that struck Jackson in May of 2003. That twister destroyed much of Greenwalt's Jackson neighborhood. He's lived there for two years and he hopes disaster doesn't strike twice. But, just in case it does, he wants to be ready. "Storms have been through here before," Greenwalt said.

"With everything going on in Jackson, Perry County, and now Alabama, people realize the value of a NOAA weather radio," said Cape Girardeau Emergency Management Director, Dave Hitt.

He says a quality weather radio costs between $25 and $60. Hitt recommends a radio that can be programmed for your specific county and those that surround you.

Midland 74-250C SAME Handheld Weather Alert Radio

B00009Q39V.01. Aa280 Sclzzzzzzz -1

I'm not sure I need a handheld weather alert radio all the time, but for the hikes I used to take on various trails in NH, or long stays out in the boat fishing on bad weather days - I can see it. You can stay informed of current local weather and hazard conditions whether when you're camping, hiking, hunting, or just hanging around the house with this handheld Midland weather alert radio. Capable of receiving seven National Oceanic & Atmospheric Association (NOAA) channels--each of which receives emergency advisories on tornadoes, floods, severe thunderstorms, civil danger warnings, and more--the 74-250C is a must for people who live in high-risk weather areas, or for people who just want a little extra protection when hitting the outdoors. Plus, the seven NOAA channels offer coverage for roughly 93 percent of the U.S., so most residents are well covered regardless of where they live.
